fullsizephoto754062The 89th Oscars have just received film entries from 85 countries around the world for their Foreign Language Film category, and South Korea was one of them! This year’s entry from Korea is Kim Jee Woon’s (The Good, The Bad, The Weird) blockbuster hit, “The Age of Shadows” starring Gong Yoo, Kang-Ho Song and Ji-Min Han!

The film takes place in the 1920’s during the Japanese occupation of Korea and follows the fight between Korean nationalists and Japanese police. But, who is really playing for which team? This action-packed spy thriller has an impressive 100% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and has garnered rave reviews from American critics. Fingers-crossed that Korea will be able to take an Oscar home on Feb. 26th!

You can still catch “The Age of Shadows” in theaters! CGV LA is still running it, and for a full list, stop by CJ Entertainment’s website to catch where else it’s playing!

And, just for fun, here’s Gong Yoo discussing the film while being adorable at the same time! Enjoy!
